Reconsidered Goods May 2019 newsletter

A big thanks to everyone that came out for our 50% off sale in April. We have those markdown sales to keep our sales floor from being overwhelming and we are happy to see items go out at low prices for you guys. We received 8.19 tons of new materials as donations in April!! That's a lot of stuff NOT going into the landfill!!

April is always a big month for us because of Earth Day. Laura and Paige had a total of 16 outreach events that included field trips, store visits, and offsite events. We visited Denton Elementary and had a make and take lab for the ENTIRE school! Laura was part of the Kathleen Clay Earth day festival, UNCG Science everywhere, and a upcycling tee shirt workshop at Mindful Supply. And, as always, a huge thanks to our volunteers and board members that helped out.

**Do you love fabric, Wilson, RG, or all of the above? We could use a few good weekday volunteers for fabric rolling. Fill out the volunteer application on the website and mention that you would like to help roll fabric.**

****We will be closed Monday, May 27th for Memorial Day****

We'd like you to meet our volunteer turned employee Lana Whiting. Lana helped us out when we were just opening and has come back to us as an employee. She knows every lyric to every song and whistles like a bird on the sales floor. Make sure to say hi if you see her. We are thrilled to have her on the RG team!!

We have lots of great events coming up in the next few months:

Sunday, May 5th will be our Make-It event at RG for the month: Yarn Wall Hangings

Drop in during our regular open hours on either day. Activities are kid and adult friendly! We give you the supplies, directions and show you some examples to get your creative juices flowing. Cost is $8 per maker- bring drinks and food if you wish (alcohol is allowed)! Allow yourself at least 1 hour (or more!) to get your craft on.

Here is a look ahead for our Craft & Draft events. Craft and Draft is held at Horigan's House of Taps in downtown GSO

Reconsidered Goods, a local nonprofit, is bringing creative reuse to the Greensboro beer scene with monthly Craft & Draft meetups. RG serves our community by taking donated materials from manufacturers and individuals and diverting them from the landfill and into the hands of artists, makers and teachers to create something new.

Join us on the third Tuesday of the month at Horigan’s House of Taps between 6-8 p.m. to make a simple upcycled craft. On Tuesday May 21, we will be making tassel necklaces. Materials and instructions will be provided. It’s only a $5 donation for a great time and you’ll leave with something awesome!
