Reconsidered Goods Newsletter : September 2018

Hello to everyone. What a weird month September has been so far! The hurricane has invaded a good portion of this month and it's still hanging around. But Fall is around the corner and cooler temps should be here soon.

Hours:
Closed Monday
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday Saturday 10-5
Wednesday 10-7
Sunday 12-5
Donations are accepted all days we are open

***When dropping off donations, it is very helpful if they are dropped off
30 minutes before our closing time if possible***

We are available for speaking engagements about reuse and our mission, field trips, birthday parties, and fairs. Please reach out to us if you have an event or group that would like to know more about creative reuse.

In the month of August, RG accepted 7 tons of donated materials into our facility to be diverted from the waste stream. We've added Fall/Halloween decorations to the sales floor and have an ongoing supply of Christmas items available as well. We would like to say thank you to all of the customers who shopped with us all summer in the heat. We did get a good laugh every time we got a complaint about the heat and our lack of air conditioning. We work 10 hour days sometimes, so the temperature did not go unnoticed by our team. But again, thanks for continuing your support despite the heat.

We have lots of fun things in the works. We are excited to announce that we have been awarded our second SPARK grant from Action Greensboro and DGI. As many of you may know, this community grant was a huge part of our success in getting started. We will be announcing the events soon, describing how this grant will be used. (spoiler alert!- It's going to be awesome!)

---- STEAM AHEAD | STORYTIME BOOKCLUB -THIRD THURSDAYS 9:00 AM ---
Free Admission

We are continuing our reading club once a month. Laura and Beth will be at RG every 3rd Thursday of each month to read a book and do a STEAM craft with kids and caretakers.

Children from ages birth to 5, along with their caretakers, are invited for STEAM powered fun focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Children of all abilities are welcome to this fun-filled learning experience.

Craft & Draft is ongoing monthly and is a great way to meet new people, grab a drink at a local brewery and complete a fun craft. October's Craft and Draft will on 10/16 be at Horrigan's House of Taps in downtown Greensboro. Check our events page on Facebook for more information. All supplies and directions are included with the $5 fee.

Make-It Days happen every first Wednesday of the month and the following Sunday. Make-it Days are drop-in crafting events that take place at RG. For a fee of $8, we will give you supplies and directions for these Pinterest inspired self-led crafting sessions. See your Facebook events page for more information. Crafts change monthly and are usually kid friendly (with adult supervision).

And, as always, our Make and Take Lab is always open for kids to come and have creative time. Stop by the register if you decide to participate in the Lab area with your children and we will give you directions. The cost for the lab is $5 per maker. (No glues or paints are used in this area, but we have loads of fun and unusual materials to create with.)

This month we are highlighting one of our favorite customers and friends, JG Priestley.
JG is a maker, sewing machine instructor and fixer. She creates amazing leather bags o of our leather hides. You can find JG's work at Adelaide's Vintage Home & Garden at 2000 Spring Garden Street. (while you're in there, tell Adelaide we say hi)
